| 318 East Traveler Street We didn't get very far this past two weeks. After visiting with our children in the Nashville area we headed south to Rainbow Plantation in Summerdale, Alabama where we have a leased site. This was the first time we had been on our site since leasing it last July so we had quite a few of "housekeeping" tasks to accomplish. Therefore, we haven't done any sightseeing over the past two weeks, however, we will give you a tour of our "home" in the south. Rainbow Plantation is located on County Road 28 in Summerdale, Alabama which is about 15 miles north of the Alabama shoreline along the Gulf of Mexico. The park has 97 campsites, 12 (or so) "dry camping" sites, 10 leased sites, 22 ERPU lots, and 112 deeded lots. We are in the ERPU (Escapees Rainbow Parks Unlimited) lots which are leased for a five years period of time. ![]() Here are a couple of pictures of the office and clubhouse. The clubhouse is the home of the "Sunday Night Ice Cream Social as well as the meeting place for most of the other crafting and social events that take place in the park. There is a monthly activity calendar that list all of the activities taking place throughout the month and there are plenty of them. A good sized swimming pool is located next to the clubhouse. Here is a picture of some of the regular campsites. You register upon arrival and pay whenever you depart unless you opt for the 3 plus 1 plan where you pay upfront for three weeks and get a fourth week free. The sites are very large with full hookups and daily fees are very reasonable. One of the good features is that you can wash your rig while you are here. ![]() Here are the ERPU lots where our site is located. As you can see, we are on a dead end street which helps keep it very quite. Actually, the whole park is nice and quite and the people you meet along the way are very nice as well. Most of them are fulltime or extended RVers and are more than happy to stop and talk for awhile. The rest of the pictures are of our site located at 318 East Traveler Street. You can place the cursor over the picture to read the captions for yourselves. Well, now you've seen our new digs and we hope you like them and will come by for a visit. Over the next couple of weeks we plan on doing some local sightseeing. This is a beautiful area with a lot of nice spots to visit so we will share them with you in our next travelogue. Until then be happy and safe. Previous Travelogue or Next Travelogue |
