Wandering America

On The Road Again!!

Trip to Nashville, Tennessee

After "celebrating'' winter in Michigan (we had 2" of snow on October 11th) we hit the road, this time as fulltimers.  Our first stop was at the Circle B Campground in Angola, Indiana.  We picked this area because it was less than four hours on the road; however, as we exited the highway it was Deja Vu all over again.  We had stopped at this campground once before and had entirely forgotten about it.  Sheesh, this getting old is for the birds, at least we don't have to travel very far to see something new!!!  Circle B is a very nice campground with nice sites but a little pricey for us fulltimers.  The campground is across the street from the Angola airport which is used by private aircraft, hot air balloonists, and parachutists.  So we had quite an exhibition and Darrell was almost in seventh heaven - he loves flying and had to be leashed to the RV to keep him from wandering off.

We had met with Rich and Diane Emond the first weekend in October and remembered that they were heading to meet up with Norm and Linda Payne at the Newmar factory in Indiana.  Knowing that the Paynes are from Louisville, KY we emailed them to see if they were still in the area.  Sure enough, they were in a parking lot across from Tom Stinitt RV in Clarksville, IN.  Rich and Diane were still with them and Dirk Harrington was on his way to pick up his new Dutch Star motorhome.  We made plans to meet up with them and go to dinner.  Don and Gloria Martin had contacted Norm saying that they were passing through the area so we had quite crew for dinner.

This was our first fulltimers rally, a small impromptu one at that.  Linda tried to make reservations but was unable to so we manned three cars (all Honda CR-Vs - it was a mini parade) and began roaming the streets of Clarksville in search of a place to happen.  We found it at Don Pablo's fake Mexican restaurant, the food was alright but the fellowship was great.  We hated to see the evening end.

Monday found us on our way to KOA Nashville where we will begin workamping in November.  This was a stop to drop off the car (it was the only thing that we had not been able to sell) and to have Camping World install a washer/dryer, surge protector, and center awning post.  We were going to have a satellite dome installed but decided that we did not want to spend the money for something that we wouldn't use that often (we are not big TV watchers).  It would have cost $1,200 to have the dome installed and then $55 per month for the service.  We had Direct TV in our home in Michigan and could not find hardly anything worth watching.

It will be off to Texas on Friday, October 20th.
